Haricten Gazelciler - Yollar (Berkay Mete Edit)

Updated: Jul 23, 2023

A Tribute to Tradition

Music has the power to transcend time and space, connecting us to the past while propelling us into the future. This power is beautifully demonstrated in Berkay Mete's work, an edit of the Turkish folk track "Yollar" by Hariçten Gazelciler.

A testament to deep respect for tradition and innovative approach to music.

The original track "Yollar" was created by Hariçten Gazelciler, a post-modern folk band that was active in the early 2000s. The band's singer, Ömür Kılıçaslan, was known as the inventor of the instrument called "Çağlama". This revolutionary instrument combines the specifications of both a guitar and a bağlama, allowing musicians to play Turkish scales with a guitar-like instrument.

Sadly, Ömür Kılıçaslan passed away in 2014, but his legacy lives on through his instrument and his songs. Berkay Mete's edit of "Yollar" is a tribute to Ömür and his band, a way of keeping their music alive and introducing it to new audiences.

Berkay has decided to give away his edit of "Yollar" as a free download for his DJ friends. This generous gesture not only allows more people to enjoy this unique piece of music, but also helps to spread the legacy of Ömür Kılıçaslan and Hariçten Gazelciler.

Berkay Mete's edit of "Yollar" is a beautiful blend of tradition and innovation, a testament to the power of music to connect us to the past while propelling us into the future. It's a tribute to a band and a musician who left a lasting impact on Turkish folk music, and a gift to music lovers everywhere.
